VG's Buy 10, Get $5 Off Deal

VG's Food Store is a local Spartan branch grocery that has quite a few locations throughout Michigan.

This week, they have a special deal that includes many items and when you buy 10 items, you get $5 off instantly at the register.

Our VG's store doubles 3 like coupons up to $1, so a $1 coupon is worth $2 off.

You have to have your YES Rewards card as well (free, just ask for one when you are there!).

I bought 6 of the Nabisco cookie bags (on sale for $1.49) ea and 4 Kraft chunk cheese (on sale for $1.99 ea).
6 x $1.49 = $8.94
4 x $1.99 = $7.96

Total so far with sale prices is $16.90.
Minus the $5 deal special, you are now down to $11.90.

I had 2 coupons, each for $1/2 Kraft cheese, each doubles to $2 off (-$6.00)
I had 3 coupons, each for $1/2 Nabisco cookies or crackers, each doubles to $2 off (-$4.00)

Total of $11.90, minus $10 in coupon savings, I paid just $1.90 for all 10 items!! :)

Breathe Right at Walmart

Walmart has the Breathe Right 2-pack for $0.97. There is a $1.50 coupon out that is off a 12 count OR smaller pack making this a fantastic deal at Walmart!

I picked up 4 packs, used 4 of the $1.50 coupons and applied the overage ($2.12) to my jar of Hellmann's ($3.48) making it a very cheap jar of mayonnaise!

I finally received my $10 off $10 or more purchase coupon and went shopping at Kohl's today!

Little Tikes toys were 1/2 off, so after sale price and my coupon, I was able to get this big dump truck for my grandson for $2.49 plus tax.

Go to Kohl's online, at the bottom of their site, sign up for their email alerts. You will get a $5/$5 coupon! Pair it up with their shopping pass and you can get some great deals!

Kmart Double $2 Coupons Feb. 27-March 2!

For the ones that have Kmart stores close by, check to see if they are participating in the super double $2 coupons this week.

Our store is!
It is a limit of 5 coupons they will double, and you must spend at least $25 in HBA/groceries....not hard to do with the prices of things.
Also have to have or sign up for the Kmart Rewards card...free.

They also have a promotion that if you spend $35 or more in P&G items, you get a $10 coupon off your next shopping trip.

The picture is what I got yesterday (with Rico inspecting it all!)!

Regular price with tax on all of this was $128.80.
Total spent: $5.11
Received at $10 coupon to use next week at Kmart on any purchase $10 or more!

The Loreal Kids shampoo was on price drop for .75 each (normally $2.99 each) and I had coupons for .75 off 1, making them free.

The Loreal Styling products was on price drop for $1.15 each (normally $4.79 each) and I had coupons for $1.00 off 1, making them just .15 each

The Tampax Pearl was $4.69 and I used $2/1 coupons, which doubled making them .69 each.

The Schick Quatro razor was on sale for $5 and I used a $2 coupon which doubled to $4 off, making this just $1.

I added the Gain fabric softner sheets in to get my P&G dollar amount up over $35 to earn the $10 coupon. I had $3 off one coupons for these (price was $4.69).

I had a $5 bonus coupon from a few weeks ago to use at Kmart on any order over $5, and since it was going to expire on the 6th, I decided to use it now.

I also had acumulated points on my Kmart Rewards card that was equal to $3.69 that I opted to use on this order as well, because the points expire at the end of the month and I didn't want to lose out on them.

I was able to get $1/2 coupons, match the coupons up with the sale price at Kroger ($1 each), and since my store doubles $1 coupons, this meant FREE SPONGES for me!

It is not advertised at ALL at any Kroger I've been to, BUT if you buy any 3 Betty Crocker potatoes (pouch or box), there is a catalina out until 4-18-2010 that gives you $3 OYNO (on your next order) coupon.

The potatoe pouches at my Kroger are $1.00 each, everyday price....buy 3, get $3!

There are also manufacturers coupons out right now for these (.25/1, $1/2, etc), and when you use the manufactureres coupons on these pouches, you are actually getting PAID to take them out of the store!!! YEAH!! :)

A Quick Trip into Kroger

Since DH sent me to the bank this morning, I figured I was already half way to Krogers already, so decided to pop in there for a quick stop also. We live 25 minutes from the store, so I try to make the best use of any trips.

Total before Kroger card and coupons $73.17
Total spent $2.74
Total saved $70.43

It's hard to see that there are 3 Reach Flossers to the left, along with 6 Snickers candy bars....and 1 of the butters is behind the other two.

Then to add icing on the cake, after I paid, the catalina machine (coupon machine next to the register) spit out a $1.00 off my next shopping trip coupon and a coupon for $1.00 of another Smart Blend margarine, which will be FREE this week after the coupon is doubled!!!

Here is the bottom of my receipt, showing total spent (for 37 items!!!) and total saved (96%). Don't forget, our Krogers double $1.00 coupons.

So basically, I spent $2.74, but got back $3.00 worth in coupons......like getting paid to shop!! LOL!

Clearance Diapers at Walgreens

Yesterday, I was out and about and remembered that I had a Register Reward (RR) of $5.00 to use by today for Walgreens. So I stopped in to find something to spend it on, as I didn't have any coupons for any of the current sale deals.

Upon wondering around, I spotted the Walgreens Jumbo Pack (56 count!) of diapers, Size 1, on clearance for $2.19 a pack!!! There was 3 of the packs, so I went ahead and bought all 3 of them.

I used my RR of $5.00 and walked out with 168 diapers for only $1.98!!!

I do not have any little babies any more (my oldest is 15! LOL!), BUT I do have a very large family (DH is from a family of 13 himself!) and baby showers are non-stop here.

I plan on using these for baby shower gifts, with the next invitations that come our way! :)

Stocking PUREX from Kroger!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything. I've had a crazy busy past several months! :)

Last week, and this week too, Kroger is having their Daytona Deals, meaning if you buy 10 participating items, you automatically get $3.00 off your grocery bill.

Purex laundry soap happens to be one of those items!! YEAH! :)

Although I have utilized the Daytona Deal a few times throughout the last week, I've mainly been just buying two bottles at a time, due to a catalina coupon that you get when buying 2 (or 3 or more). The catalina coupon is for $4.00 on your next order if you buy 2, or $5.00 on your next order if you buy 3 or more. The better savings per bottle is by buying just 2 at a time.

Our store also doubles $1 coupons. By using the coupon for $1/2, the sale price (without the Daytona Deal) of $3.29 each, and then rolling the catalina ($4.00) each time I buy two bottles, I'm paying just .91 cents for 2 bottles!

The picture shows 33 of the 35 bottles I currently have (2 of the bottles are in my laundry room), and of course, my cat, Rico, that has to investigate EVERYTHING. I have enough coupons for 10 more bottles this week!

There is no limit of how many sets of 10 items you can buy, so if you were to buy 10 of the promotion items, you get $5 off, if you bought 100 items, you'd get $50 off, etc. ;)

The coupons I used are as follows:

$1.00 off 2 ICBINB
$1.00 off any Danimals (I used 2 coupons, as I bought 2)
$1.00 off any Platex Gloves
and one coupon for FREE Idahoan flavored mashed potatoes up to $1.69 (found this coupon THAT NIGHT on the parking lot as I stepped out of the car!!! YEAH!!!)
The cashier had to put in the price and she put in $1.29.

After sale prices, mega pricing, and doubled coupons, here are the prices:

5 Dole = $0.50 total
2 ICBINB = $0.58 total
2 Danimals = -$0.42
1 Platex = -$0.50
1 Idahoan = -$0.29

So you can see that the Platex gloves covered the Dole fruit, and then the negetive amounts on the Danimals and Idahoan potatoes over covered the ICBINB by -$0.13, which is what my total was and they gave me the .13 cents!

Walmart & VG's Shopping Trips

I made a quick trip to Walmart and VG's (Spartan store) this afternoon.

At Walmart, I bought 6 packs of Kotex pantyliner pads for a total of $0.36!
I used 6 $1.00 off any Kotex pads coupons, so I just had to pay the tax.

Then I went to VG's, as they have TRIPLE coupons up to .99 this week. I got all of the above for a total of $2.68!

French's Mustard $1.45 -- .50 coupon tripled up to cost = FREE
Hunt's Catsup $1.29 -- .20 coupon tripled = $.69 each
Reach Floss $1.49 -- .50 coupon tripled up to cost = FREE
Aunt Millies Buns on sale for 3/$4 -- .35 coupon tripled = .28 each

The hardest part is keeping track of the store's limit of only 3 like coupons per transaction and making it work with the Mega Sale items as well.

OH!!!! And here's another BONUS with this trip.....the Ziploc containers (reg. $4.29 (GASP!!)) where on sale for $2.50, PLUS part of the Mega Sale (so only $2.00 after the $5.00 off 10 qualifying items) AND even with my bad eyes (they were on the top shelf) I spotted $1.00 off this purchase PEELIE!!!! We have outgrown our freezer (see picture!), not to mention that it is older than the hills, has to be defrosted at least twice a year (what a pain!), and is probably eating us alive in electricity use!

I went yesterday and ordered a new one! YEAH! It is bigger, frost free, Energy Star, AND has alarms for temperature variations and door ajar (we lost all our freezer foods a few years ago due to the door being "ajar"!).

By waiting for a great sale, and taking advantage of additional savings with coupon codes (DH even laughed at my having coupon codes to save on a freezer!!), I was able to save $304 off my new freezer.

Now the hard part.....waiting the 2 weeks (June 3rd) for it to arrive! LOL! :)

How I Organize My Coupons

Each person will come up with the best way to organize their coupons that works best for them. Many use the binder method. I personally use a check/coupon expandable file. I've tried so many different ways, but what works best for ME is this.

I did not plan on going to Kroger yesterday, but since DH was heading over there to fill the truck and gas cans up, I tagged along and ran into the store.

The Kellogg's cereals were on sale for $1.99 each and I had the $1 off one coupons printed from www.coupons.com site. Our store doubles $1 coupons, so I got the cereals for FREE! :)

The 3 J&J Buddies soaps were $0.99 each and I had a catalina coupon for $2.50 off any 3 J&J baby.

Total spent $0.65!

Gathering Coupons

In a small series of posts over the next few weeks (hopefully!), I will discuss how to start coupon shopping.

First thing to do is gather some coupons.

There are several ways to do this.

Sunday papers (except holiday weekends) have coupon inserts.

Ebay also provides a wide variety of coupons, many for specific items. Just type in coupons in the ebay search bar.

There are coupons in the stores, which I usually gather a few of each as I'm shopping.....can use these to trade with family and friends if you are not going to use them yourself.
Coupons are usually on tear-pads or in blinky boxes (red blinking light) that when you pull out one coupon, it spits out another one.

There are catalina coupons, which are the coupons you receive with your store receipt after you have paid.

There are also sights online to purchase coupons as well, along with many blogs that are great for listing where the internet printable ones are.
www.kuntryklippers.com has coupons to purchase (***NOTE!! Have your volumn turned DOWN or off :) )

www.coupons.com always has coupons there to print online. I print mine in only black ink, as I do not have color.
The internet printables are not accepted in all stores, so before printing out a bunch of them (wasting your ink, paper and time), make sure you first find out your store's coupon policy on them.

Second shopping Trip!!

I was so excited over yesterdays shopping, that I had to go again today!! :)

I spent a total of $11.42 for all of the above.

The total before coupons and my Kroger card was $116.00!!

I did this in 3 seperate stops, as our Kroger limits 3 like coupons per visit, but I'm lucky enough to have 3 different Kroger stores within about 2 miles of each other. Our Kroger stores double the $1 coupons.

The grandkids are going to LOVE these!!

The French's mustard was also a rolling deal for me as well, as when I purchased the 2 from yesterday (the 2 only cost me .50 out of pocket after coupon and sale), the coupon dispenser shot out a coupon for $1 off my next shipping order, which Kroger also doubles these here!
It is like getting the mustard for free and then taking yet another $1.50 off my grocery bill!! YEAH!!

On the Halls, the coupon I used for each pack was $1.00 off. The coupon states Do Not Double right at the top, which Kroger does not usually double these (which is fair!). I purchased 1 pack at each store....2 of the stores doubled the coupon (making the Halls FREE) and 1 store did not double it, so I paid .50 for the pack. Still a wonderful deal!

Here is my little shopping trip yesterday......DH had to get gas in his truck and gas cans, so I rode along with him (we get .50 off a gallon at kroger) and while he was getting gas, I was in the store buying all this with coupons and the using the store reward card:

2 rolls Bounty Basic FREE
3 Johnson & Johnson's Buddies (.47 for all 3, had a catalina coupon)
3 Mentos Gum FREE
6 packs Johnsonville Sausage Link (.50 each, total $3)
3 4-pks Danimals Crush-Cups (.29 each, total .87)
2 French's Mustard (.25 each, total .50)
6 Wish Bone Bountiful Dressings FREE
4 half-dozen eggs (special at .25 each, total $1)
2 packs Halls FREE

Total out of pocket for all $5.12
Total savings of $66.43

But I then received a check-out coupon for $1 off my next shopping (which my store doubles, so is worth $2!, along with another check-out coupon for $2.50 off any 3 Johnson & Johnson's products)

Now remember, I have to drive 25 miles one way to get to the store, so we do try to make the most of each trip!

Our store doubles the $1 coupons, but even if your store does not, check your sale prices this week on some things. Most all our stores around here (even the stores that do not double coupons) have the Johnsonville sausage on sale for either $2 or $2.50, so with a $1 off coupon that was in yesterdays paper (coupons inserts), still a really good deal, as these are normally $3.99 each.
